After a banner Fall season, ASU Cycling fought hard this spring to claim second place in the ACCC road season. A hard charging Pfeiffer University team took their first conference title with ASU only 7 points behind in the final conference standings. With a dominant close to the season and many riders ready for upgrades, all can rest assured that the men and women from Boone are fired up for the conference road title next year in 2010!Attention now turns to next season and early preparations for the sponsorship assault this summer. Team members will be working hard to gather sponsorship dollars in order to fund two west coast trips next year for mountain bike nationals and cyclocross nationals in Truckee, California and Bend, Oregon, respectively. ASU will try to repeat as national champs in both this fall and winter.
Also, be on the lookout this summer for an important event. "Blood, Sweat, & Gears" will take place on June 27, 2009, and ASU Cycling is currently working to host a social event that will take place after the ride. We hope this event will turn into an annual event used to raise money for the ASU Cycling Team. Keep your eyes and ears open for details about this event.
